How often do we notice ants crawling on the floor, garden, on
plants, on the walls, or to eateries in the store cupboard? It is such a beauty
to see them fall in line (almost), and they trek up the most difficult places,
push through the difficult passes, and reach their destination. In fact there
is a Tamil saying – ‘eerumbu ooura kallum theiyum’ which means as the ants continuously
crawl over the stone, it will erode overtime. They tiny insects scavenge the
forest floors and keep them neat and clean by saving food for the bad day.
These little creatures have been moving across the wild world
for centuries silently emphasizing on the importance of perseverance, hard work
and planning. They also emphasis on the need for delegation, for each type of
ant has its own work to do. They plan way ahead and also gather food from the first
hint of sunshine for the rainy day. They also communicate through some chemical
generation, set trails and follow the trails of the leaders to get the food.
It is simply astounding on how to these miniscule insects can have solutions to solve the most complex problems. I also read somewhere about how ants helped researchers find solutions to certain problems in networking, analyzing about them revealed myriad facts on group behavior while is similar to that of humans.
So the next time you see a line of ants crawling somewhere, instead of disrupting them, look at these wonderful creations of Mother Nature.
